Diana Giannopoulou

Co-Founder – Interior Design Specialist – Architect Enginner

Diana Giannopoulou was born in 1959 in Athens. She graduated in 1983 from the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). As a licensed architect engineer, she has been practicing independently since 1983, the same year she co-founded the design firm MICROTEAM ARCHITECTS with her partner Georgios Kondylis.
Their architectural work has received recognition in architectural competitions and exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Notable distinctions include participation in the 2nd Biennale of Young Artists from Mediterranean Countries in 1986 with two works in the fields of Architecture and Design, and in 1987 in the CLEAU-TEE exhibition “Single-family Housing in the EEC Countries.” In 2016, their work was featured in KTIRIO – 30 Years of Architecture in Greece at the Tellogleion Foundation of Arts in Thessaloniki, and in the same year, Microteam Architects were awarded at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis) among the Best Hotels in Greece.
From 1986 to 1990, she taught freehand and technical drawing to high school students preparing for architecture school, in post-secondary preparatory schools under the Greek Ministry of Education. During the 1987–1988 academic year, she served as a scientific associate in the Department of Morphology & Rhythmology, assisting Professor Nikos Th. Cholevas in the course History of Contemporary Architecture.
Between 1997 and 2001, she worked closely with painter Daniil Gounaridis, taking on the subject of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at Vakalo Art & Design College, in collaboration with the University of Derby in the UK.
Her philosophical interest in the dialectical relationship between built space and the human body — and their mutual interactions, centered around the concept of the Homo Universalis — led her to study the human body, anatomy, and its functions, with the goal of exploring the essence of “eu zīn” (living well).
From 2008 to 2013, she attended seminar-based courses in Craniosacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute Inc (Scotland), Fascia Therapy, and meridian anatomy of Chi, with instructor Claudio Santi, a Fluid-Kinetics therapist from Florence. Since 2009, as a member of the Hellenic Yoga Association in Athens, she has attended courses and seminars in the yoga tradition of Eva Ruchpaul, completing her training as a Classical Indian Yoga Teacher at Santom Academy, under instructor Lida Santala.
Alongside her architectural profession, she is also a visual artist and a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EETE). She has successfully held solo painting exhibitions (2018 & 2014 at Argo Gallery, Athens; 2004 at Nostos Art Cave, Santorini; 1997 at Villa Stella, Heraklion, Attica) and participated in numerous group exhibitions (Argo Gallery 2015–2022; Techni Logos 2016–2017, 2022; Time of Art 2016; EETE 2021–2025 at various venues including Patras and Athens; Art Athina 2015, 2019, 2020, 2024).
She has also illustrated children’s books and designed covers for literary publications.
As a member of the firm’s design team, she is also involved in interior architecture, landscape architecture, and materials research, always guided by the principles of ecology, economy, and energy balance, aiming to enhance the user’s “eu zīn”. Her articles on topics in the history and theory of architecture and design have been published in various art and architecture magazines.
